Hello :3 ! I go to Northwest CTA & I really dislike the "healthy hawks" idea & I was wondering how we can let the administrators know how a majority of the students feel about it. Honestly, I see more down sides to "healthy hawks" than benefits. We aren't even eating healthier. It just seems that they just took eating privileges away. So how can we let the administrators know? I'm keeping myself anon for now but I might reveal who I am later in time

Due to our strict administration, it’s hard to make them see our points, but the best way to try to make a change is to let them know. If you are too nervous to say it in person, you can always write a letter. Just DO NOT petition, that could get you expelled. Also, once a month there is something called an ICC meeting where all the clubs meet and discuss things. You could always join in and try to get the clubs on your side. If it’s something you are passionate about, make it happen.

Where is the perfect balance between enough education and enough extra curricular activities?
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” ― Albert Einstein

In Clark County School District they are trying to figure out ways to judge students on their performance and to determine whether they are fit to move up a grade. One of the suggestions floating around is to judge third graders on their ability to read. If they can’t read at a 3.0, they don’t move up a grade. It doesn’t matter if they read at a 2.9 and they’re a genius in math. They aren’t graduating. Not everyone is suited to read… not everyone is suited to do math, but we need these different types of people in our society to make things run. That child could have been a child who would have revolutionized the world, but we’re going to tell him that he can’t. Then where will we be?

We have the power to stop this. This isn’t a decision that can’t be changed. Write letters to your congressman, to your senate, to the district. Threaten their position in power. Let them know that we CARE! The worst thing we can do is sit back and let it happen. if no one stands up to fight, the battle won’t exist to be won….

In recent news…

Today i found out that there is a new plan for the education system. In hopes of eliminating more faculty and electives to save money, the government has come up with a new idea.
This plan is suppose to be put into affect next school year.
What is it?
Well basically sciences like botany or epidemiology won’t count as science credits anymore, just elective credits. This means that less kids will take those classes which means that less teachers might be needed and those electives can be removed from the curriculum.

Eventually Nevada will rank in the negatives at the rate we are going. We are getting our educational privileges slowly ripped away from us, without warning.
We get to sit here and watch these things happen to us while we seem powerless.

It is up to us to get everyone involved. I would give some responsibility to the media but they could care less, all they care about is if a new casino is being built or not.

We are better than blackjack dealers and strippers, and we need to prove that.

Government Orders You Tube To Censor Protest Videos

In a frightening example of how the state is tightening its grip around the free Internet, it has emerged that You Tube is complying with thousands of requests from governments to censor and remove videos that show protests and other examples of citizens simply asserting their rights, while also deleting search terms by government mandate.

The latest example is You Tube’s compliance with a request from the British government to censor footage of the British Constitution Group’s Lawful Rebellion protest, during which they attempted to civilly arrest Judge Michael Peake at Birkenhead county court.

What They did not want you to ever find out is that your generation, the generation born between 1980-1995, actually outnumbers the Baby Boomers. They knew that if you ever turned your eye towards political reform, you could change the world.

They tried to keep you sated on vapid television shows and vapid music. They cut off your education and fed you brain candy. They took away your music and gave you Top Ten pop stations. They cut off your art and replaced it with endless reality shows for you to plug into, hoping you would sit quietly by as They ran the world. I think They thought you were too dumb to notice.

Indeed, I thought They had won.

But I watched you occupy the capital of Wisconsin. I see you today as you occupy Wall Street. And I see a spark, a glimmer of the glorious new age that is yours. A changing of the guard, a guard that has stood for entirely too long and needs your young legs to take his place.

I watch you turn away from what is easy and stand up for what is right. I see you understand we as a society are only as strong as our weakest link. I see you wise beyond your years. And I am proud. Give ‘em hell, kids. You are beautiful.

Can this be reblogged everywhere please.

I shall re-blog the fuck out of this.

Our school was able to save all of their arts departments only because we had a mysterious donor donate a lot of money. It makes me both happy and sad. At least someone cares about our education, but in reality, it shouldn't just be my school that gets these saved, but everyone's school. It's like really? you wonder why our society is the way it is? It's because we have no motivation when you take out everything and anything that drives us.

And so, another school year has started.

notice any differences at your school?

I have:

  • less school days-just look at your agenda, almost every other week we have a day off.
  • Less electives-so many people are in electives they didn’t even choose because their elective got cut.
  • More kids in classes. My art class has 36 and counting. sure, that’s less than most public school classes here, but that’s still more than last year, and the numbers keep growing.

All in all, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be, but then again the year just started and I still can’t help but feel enraged that every other school in this counrty have probably already learned more than us in Nevada.

You underestimate us. We aren't so stupid as to let you watch as we fall.
